Hi there!

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing giant pandas in real life, make sure Chengdu is on your list.

I visited the Chengdu Panda Base on a short layover, thinking it would just be a quick photo stop. Instead, it turned into one of the most peaceful and memorable mornings I’ve had in China.

Here’s what I wish I’d known before going:
✔️ Go early - pandas nap after breakfast, so aim for opening time.
✔️ Book your ticket in advance - lines can get long, especially on weekends.
✔️ Wear comfy shoes - the base is huge, and you’ll be walking through bamboo trails between enclosures.
✔️ Don’t skip the red pandas! They’re cheeky and often less crowded.

👉 Read my full Chengdu Panda Base guide - includes ticket links, visiting times, and what to expect.

It’s easy to think of pandas as something you’ll see “someday,” but trust me seeing them in Chengdu is one of those experiences that sticks with you long after you leave.
